Euroean youth has to join forces to help developing countries

Sober youth from all over Europe is gathered in Fredrikstad this week. Together we have celebrated the 20th anniversary of Active, sobriety, friendship and peace. We have different backgrounds, our countries have different histories and when we join we can learn from each other. In this way we can avoid making the same mistakes more than once. There are many countries that are a lot less developed than the European ones. When European youth join forces, we should be able to help developing countries.

Alcohol is no ordinary commodity. Alcohol is an obstacle for development because it makes people slip away from the real world. It is a cause of harm and violence. Because of this there is a need for rules and laws that regulate the access to alcohol. The people that earn money on alcohol should not formulate the laws. They need to be formulated with the main goal of protecting people.

Through Active the joined forces of sober European youth can provide help to the developing world. We will share our experiences with regulations concerning alcohol policies, and help fellow youth lead a sober, drug-free lifestyle.

Europe is big,but the world is bigger.  Through cooperation Active will be able to continue to spread the idea of sobriety, friendship and peace in the years to come.
