On holiday

Yes, the summer-camp in Albania is over and it was a great week where ACTIVE showed that we are big and that we are sober! For me it contained everything that means holiday; sun, ocean, no work/studies/stress and just chill out with friends. Though, for many people all over the world, the consumption of alcohol also increases during the holidays. Alcohol and other "soft" drugs such as cannabis are something that is often related to vacacion, recreation and chill out. Therefore, it is very important for ACTIVE that we show all our friends and sorrundings that it is possible to enjoy free time and party-nights on the beach without the presence of alcohol.

Anyway, when I was on my way to Albania I got to see some other side of the glamourous picture of drugs. I swear, it had nothing to do with chill out what so ever! First, I went with train to Berlin. There I saw some homeless people sleeping at a bench. I also saw a lot of alcohol-comercial, but the persons at the pictures seemed happy and that was not the impression of the men on the benches. After that, I continued to Venice. There I saw some alcohol-bottles thrown, witch was not very nice to see first thing you arrive to a new city. Maybe a result of all the tourism!? And when I finally was on the ferry on my way from Italy to Albania, the posters of alcohol-comercial once again appeared everywhere. That was my first impression of a country that has a lot more to offer than poison!

My point is that it is impossible to deny that alcohol and drugs are a point in our lives, even though I personally dont drink. It is everywhere! Therefore, it was a great motivation for me to see all of us in Albania and knowing that another world is possible and that the alcohol-industry, no matter how rich and powerful it is, cant fool us.

the industry is fooling may others, though; the question is: what are we doing about that?
