Blog

I just returned from a Youthforum event on exchanges, where we discussed the value of exchanges, the need of exchanges, and what kind of exchanges are possible to do. Coming from Active, I brought input on short-term youth exchanges and the value of participating on such events. It can be the start of something bigger –inspire you to study abroad, help you realize there’s other ways of doing things than your way, and to create friendships across the borders. We discussed the challenges we have on exchanges; cooperation with formal education, recognition of exchanges and non-formal education and non-formal learning,
It feels great to take part in such an event, where you can contribute, your opinions are valued, and you work together in a group figuring out what member organisations can do on the topic, and what the Youthforum should focus on regarding mobility and youth exchanges. I was inspired to create a campaign on non-formal-learning, something I will bring up with my peers in my local community, to see if this is something we can work on. Another youth in action project to be created, to spread the word and value on exchanges.
